August 2022 Classes
Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for virtual and hybrid classes.
VACCINATION REQUIRED for in-person attendance. Masks must be worn at all times inside the shop and classroom. Hybrid and virtual classes include a class recording.
Knitting in the Round: Jeweled Beanie HYBRID

August 13, 20, 27, 10 am- 12 pm $90
You know how to knit and purl, so let's move from flat squares to knitting in the round. Knit your first hat and learn skills for all sorts of future projects. We will cover knitting in the round, decreasing, reading charts, and finishing techniques. Students should be able to cast-on, knit, and purl.

Intro to Machine Sewing IN PERSON
August 7, 10 am-1 pm $45

Are you a beginner sewist who has no idea what all the knobs and dials on your machine do? Are you coming back to sewing after long break? If you know how to sew, but aren't satisfied with your machine skills, this class will show you the ins and outs of your home sewing machine! We'll go over terminology, set-up, stitches, and troubleshooting as well as tools that will help make your projects a success. You do not need a machine to register. We will only be going over modern machines.
Materials List:
- Your home sewing machine, in good working order with the power cord, foot pedal, and bobbin
- 1/2 yard of any woven cotton fabric (no stretch)
- Any color thread
- Fabric shears or sharp scissors
- Pins (glass head pins are preferred but any kind will do for this class)
Sewing Skills: Petal Pouch HYBRID

August 14, 10 am- 1:30 pm $52.50
This fun and practical little pouch is perfect for organizing your craft supplies, or makes a thoughtful gift in a favorite fabric. We'll learn to use a paper pattern, install a zipper, apply interfacing, and sew a curved seam. Students should be able to independently set up and sew straight line projects on their machine. The larger of the two sizes is recommended for beginners.

Exterior- 1/4 yard or FQ (fat quarter) quilting cotton or light to midweight canvas or similar
Interior- 1/4 yard or FQ quilting cotton
1/2 yard SF101 woven fusible interfacing

Sew Your Own: Sandhill Sling HYBRID
August 20 +21, 1-4 pm $90
Get ready for hands-free adventures with this cute and practical sling-style backpack! We'll cover techniques for sewing a multi-part lined bag with a variety of hardware, including zippers, snaps, and adjustable straps, as well as various pocket construction styles. Students should have experience sewing bags or garments from a pattern.

We've all got a knitting Work In Progress that could use some help! Join knitting instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for guidance! If you've taken a class with Amie, or a knitting class at Freeman's Creative, come work on your projects with guidance and support. This is an ongoing series for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about the class format, or whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop.
Sewing Studio HYBRID
Friday, August 19, 5:30-7:30 PM Free
Join us for some Friday night sewcializing! Bring a project and hang out with other folks who love to sew! You can use our machines or bring your own. We have pins, scissors, rotary blades, and other general sewing supplies on hand.
This is not a class and there is no instructor; it's a chance to get out of the house, spread out your fabric, and work on projects together.
If you'd like company while you work from home, we'll have a Zoom link up too.
