August 2024 Classes
Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for virtual and hybrid classes.
Please keep vaccinations up-to-date for in-person attendance. At this time, masks are optional inside the classroom; please be mindful of our shared space. Hybrid and virtual classes include a class recording.
Knit Skills: Colorwork Socks HYBRID CLASS
August 3, 10, 17 + 24, 10 am-12 pm, $120

Make the sweetest socks, the Gelato Socks from Stone Knits! We'll learn top down sock construction, ladder back jacquard for long floats, and a ribbed heel flap. Students should confidently knit and purl in the round and have experience with small needles and reading patterns. Students with less experience can skip the colorwork.

Materials:
Gelato Sock pattern from Stone Knits (individual PDF from Ravelry or in the book Charming Colorwork Socks) Students may choose another design from the collection that uses the same techniques (top down with a heel flap and gusset)
5 colors of sock weight yarn:
100 g of MC (main color)
20g each of CC1, 2, 3, + 4 (cone, scoop, background, and heel + toe)
Students with no prior sock knitting experience may choose to skip the colorwork. They will need 100 g of MC and 20 g of CC for heels and toes
US 1 (2.25 mm) needles for small circumference knitting (32" for magic loop, DPNS, 9" short circular, or two circulars)
US 1.5 (2.5 mm) needles for small circumference knitting for the colorwork section

Knit Skills: Sherbet Fizz Shawl HYBRID CLASS
August 3, 10 + 24, 1-3 PM $90

Sherbet Fizz is a classic triangle shawl with an engaging mix of lace and garter stitch that can be knit up in two sizes and three weights of yarn. We will cover lace knitting techniques and reading lace charts, as well as a fun picot edge stitch. Students should confidently knit and purl, and have some experience reading patterns.

Knit Skills: Baby (or Child) Sweater HYBRID CLASS

Baby projects are the perfect way to build your skills on a smaller scale, plus everything is just cuter on tiny people! The adorable Veggie Patch cardigan will cover short-row shaping, buttonholes, and picking up stitches- all skills you can use for adult-size projects! Students should be able to knit and purl in the round and have some practice following a pattern.

Sport or DK yarn in the amount for the size you choose (3 mo- 10 yr) * If you use a DK weight yarn, you may need to go up a needle size*

Sew Your Own: Lander Pants IN PERSON CLASS
August 4, 11, + 18, 11 am- 2pm, $135
These could be your new favorite pants…
Sew the Lander Pants (or shorts!) and gain new sewing skills! We will learn basic fit adjustments to size and length, as well as construction skills for waistbands, pockets, and button flys. Students should be comfortable sewing by machine and maintaining a seam allowance, and have experience sewing from a pattern. We will cut our fabric together in class. If you anticipate needing assistance with fit adjustments such as a larger hip to waist ratio, you can wait to cut your pattern pieces in class, but you may have additional sewing homework.

The Lander Pants pattern (Paper copies size 0-18 or PDF up to size 32)
Mid to heavyweight fabric for your size (Prewashed!)
Pocket lining fabric (1/2 yard, light to midweight, Prewashed!)
Fusible midweight interfacing (like SF101)
Jeans/dungaree buttons
Denim needle or heavyweight needle suitable for your fabric
Thread to match (all-purpose)
Your working sewing machine (or rent one of ours) with manual and buttonhole attachment
You may want to bring your own basic sewing kit (fabric shears, clear ruler, tape measure, straight pins, seam gauge, seam ripper) but we do have shared tools available for use in the classroom
Learn to Sew: Tool Roll IN PERSON CLASS
August 25, 11 am - 2 pm, $45
Customize your tool roll!
In this class, students will learn all the basic steps to sewing by machine, including how to set up the machine, adjust the settings, change a needle, wind a bobbin, and sew straight lines. Students will sew a tool roll that can be customized to hold anything from knitting needles or clay tools to pens and pencils.

Your working sewing machine, and any accessories and manual (or rent one of ours)
2 Fat Quarters, or a half yard of quilting cotton (fabric does not need to be prewashed)
A fresh Universal 80/12 machine needle

Work In Progress Knitting Help IN PERSON
August 2, 9, + 23, 1-3 pm, $30
We've all got a knitting Work In Progress that could use some help! Join an instructor for assistance! Come work on your projects with guidance and support. This is a group class for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop with a description.
