Sew Your Own: Hinterland Dress HYBRID CLASS

  • Freeman's Creative LLC 2020 Chapel Hill Road #25 Durham, NC, 27707 United States (map)

The Hinterland is a timeless dress with a fit that is loose, yet shapely, with bust darts, a gathered skirt with pockets, and optional waist ties. We'll be sewing the view with sleeves and a half placket. Students should have experience sewing garments from a pattern. We will work on length and bust adjustments, darts, bias binding, gathering, buttons and buttonholes, and in seam pockets.

*Please do not purchase your fabric before the first class, as we will be going over skills that might change your yardage and final fabric type!

For the first class, you’ll need your pattern, paper scissors, clear tape, highlighter, elastic + safety pin, a pencil and extra paper for pattern adjustments. In the second class, we’ll be constructing the bodice, and optional waist ties will be homework. The third class will focus on plackets, buttons and buttonholes. And in the fourth class, we’ll sew pockets and skirts and then sew it all together!

Equipment Needed: sewing machine with straight stitch and zig-zag options, iron, ironing board, press cloth.
