This beginner-friendly class packs a punch with bold lines and vibrant colors. Mollie will walk you through the process of creating a piece of embroidered art, from setting up your hoop to framing your one-of-a-kind piece. You can use the text provided in the pattern, or choose your own word to stitch! Students will learn how to transfer their design to fabric, a variety of common stitches, and how to finish a hoop for display.

In this class, students will learn:
● How to transfer their pattern to fabric
● A variety of stitches that can carry you through most of your embroidery projects, including back stitch, chain stitch, split stitch, and satin stitch
● Techniques for stitching linework and shading
● How to seal your hoop and prepare it for display
Supplies needed:
● Printed Tattoo Heart pattern
● 5” embroidery hoop (6” will also work)
● Embroidery floss, such as Cosmo or DMC 100% cotton:
○ Red: 2 skeins
○ Black: 2 skeins
○ Yellow (or color of your choosing for flower center): 1 skein
○ Medium Blue (or color of your choosing for main petal color): 1 skein
○ Light Blue (or color of your choosing for petal highlight): 1 skein
○ Medium Green (or color of your choosing for main leaf color): 1 skein
○ Light Green (or color of your choosing for leaf highlight): 1 skein
● ¼ yard white quilting-weight cotton. Bella Solids 100% Cotton will work well.
● Needle threader
● Heat erasable or water-soluble pen for marking fabric
● Fabric scissors or all-purpose scissors
● Optional: small, sharp scissors, such as embroidery scissors or thread snips
There will be stitching homework after the first class.
