With a loose, body skimming silhouette and a number of interchangeable design features, the Kalle Shirt & Shirtdress is the ultimate in chic, easy dressing. View A is a cropped top with a wide faced hem, View B is a tunic length top and View C is a shirtdress with a high-low hem. All versions have a back yoke, curved hems and sleeves that extend into bands. For this class, I’ll be making the full button placket version (choose your own length!) and demonstrating the hidden placket and popover placket. I’ll also talk about converting the hemline into a standard straight hem if the curves are not your style.
This class is a fast paced and packed with demos! Please have your fabric washed & pressed for the first class as we will be diving right in. Light to medium weight wovens are ideal, and as always I recommend a print with a clear right side / wrong side for your first Kalle.
Skills demonstrated: sizing, length adjustments, pinning & cutting, fusing interfacing, plackets, pleats, topstitch, understitch, staystitch, faced & bias hems, collars with stand, buttonholes and buttons.
- Three 3 hour live sessions, plus homework.
Equipment Needed: sewing machine with straight stitch and zig-zag options, iron, ironing board, pressing ham, press cloth. For lengthening/shortening pattern: extra paper and clear tape.
