Learn the basics of colorwork while knitting the ESP hat from the book Moon + Turtle. We'll learn a tubular version of the Italian cast-on, reading colorwork charts, trapping floats, and centered double decreases (plus pom-pom tips and tricks!) Students should be comfortable knitting and purling in the round. Pattern includes 3 sizes and 3 brim options.

Three colors of DK weight yarn
Yarn A: approx. 85 (90, 95)m / 90 (100, 105)yds
Yarn B: approx 70 (75, 80)m / 75 (80, 90)yds
Yarn C: approx. 55 (60, 65)m / 60 (65, 70)yds
Gauge: 24 sts & 26 rows = 10cm / 4” over colourwork pattern on 3.75mm needles, after blocking.
27 sts & 34 rows = 10cm / 4” over 1x1 Rib pattern on 3.25mm needles, unstretched after blocking.
Needles: 3.25mm / US 3 straight needles (optional for Tubular Cast-On set up rows), and / or circular needle, 40cm / 16” length
3.75mm / US 5 circular needle, 40cm / 16” length AND needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
