Class Description: The Toaster Sweater by Sew House Seven is just what you want to snuggle into for winter! We’ll be making version #1 in class – a raglan sleeve with a high neck and bands to finish the wrists and hems. It’s a simple shape for those who would like to explore sewing knit garments on their sewing machine – no serger needed. In the first class, we’ll look at the fit then pin & cut our fabric. And then it is all about construction – learn which stitches on your machine work best for your fabric. We’ll also go over single fold hems if you choose not to add bands to your sweater, and time allowing we will discuss version #2.
Please come to class with your fabric washed, dried and pressed if needed. Machines are also needed in the first class as we will be experimenting with stitches on scraps.
- Two 3 hour sessions, plus homework.
Equipment Needed: sewing machine with zig-zag options, iron, ironing board, pressing ham, press cloth. For lengthening/shortening pattern: extra paper and clear tape.
