Let's start sewing clothes! The All Well Box Top is about as simple as it gets. We'll take our measurements, cut our pattern pieces and fabric, sew seams and hems, and finish a neckline with bias binding. Students should be comfortable setting up and sewing by machine, including changing needles and bobbins. We'll sew the sleeveless top in class, but after that, you're ready for all the variations!

Materials:
Pattern for All Well Box Top- Full printed copies are included in the book How to Sew Clothes, available in the shop, or can be purchased as an individual PDF from the designers' website. If using the PDF, students should come to class with their pages taped together if printing at home, or have the pattern printed by a large format printer such as PDF Plotting (allow time for shipping)
1.5 to 2 yds of fabric, depending on size- prewash your fabric
Thread to match- choose a sew-all polyester thread; this isn't the time to use a vintage thread, get new thread for best results
A new 80/12 Universal needle or Microtex needle
Your sewing machine (or rent one of ours) and basic sewing supplies like fabrics scissors + snips, pins, a soft measuring tape, fabric marking pencil or chalk- we have many of these supplies on hand in the classroom if you are trying things out, but it's nice to have your own and you will want them for future projects.
