Knit Skills: Socks in a Weekend HYBRID

The fastest way to get handknit socks on your feet!

December 14 + 15, 12:30-2:30 PM, $60

Turn your sock tube into a pair (or two!) of socks! Sock tubes, cranked on a circular knitting machine, eliminate the stockinette portion of knitting socks and get those socks on your feet faster! In the class we’ll cover inserting needles into work to catch live stitches, cutting knitting, afterthought heels, and tips to make socks identical. Students must have experience knitting socks.

Note - this class has "homework" before class begins. Students must select their yarn and leave it at the shop to be cranked into a tube by December 11. Students may choose to have their tubes cranked with 60, 64, or 72 stitches.

Materials:

-One skein of sock yarn left at the shop. The yarn will be returned to students as a sock tube at the first class. Sock Tube Service has a cost of $15 and can be paid directly to Rachel or selected as an "add-on" with registration.

-Approximately 20g of sock yarn in a contrasting color

-TWO sets of sock needles in your preferred style (DPNs or longer needles for magic loop - if students aren’t sure which they prefer, they may bring one set of each style). Students should use the size they prefer for knitting socks - generally a US 1, 1.5, or 2.

-Basic knitting kit including scissors, darning needle, and removable stitch markers

* Optional - a pair of hand knit socks to use as a model for the pair from your tube
