January 2025 Classes

Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for virtual and hybrid classes.

Please keep vaccinations up-to-date for in-person attendance. At this time, masks are optional inside the classroom; please be mindful of our shared space. Hybrid and virtual classes include a class recording.


Learn to Knit, One Dishcloth at a Time HYBRID CLASS

January 11 + 18, + Feb 1, 10 am-12 pm, $90

If you've never knit before or just need a refresher, this class will teach you all the basics. We'll start off with a simple garter stitch dishcloth, then learn the techniques to add new colors the second week, then add textured stitches in week 3. You'll be ready to knit so many projects after this class!

US sz 7 Needles

3 colors of Worsted Weight cotton yarn like Nifty Cotton or Coastal Cotton (with good contrast, no dark colors)

Knit Skills: Stripetastic Sweater HYBRID CLASS

January 11 + 18, Feb 8 + 15, March 1+ 8, 1-3 pm, $180

Let's knit a sweater! Don't be intimidated; if you can knit and purl ribbing in the round, you can make this sweater! We will cover choosing a size, finding your gauge, and basic construction techniques for bottom-up, drop-shoulder sweaters. We'll also cover a tubular cast-on, tricks for jogless stripes, and seaming, picking up stitches, and other finishing skills.

Pattern: Stripetastic from Andrea Gaughan Knits (Designer's website or Ravelry)

DK weight yarn for your size, length and stripe pattern (1000 -2000 total yards)

US 6/4.0 mm needles (body 32-40" Circular)(DPNs or other preferred needle for sleeves)

US 3/3.25 mm needles (ribbing/finishing 32-40" + preferred needle for sleeves)

* Magic Loop or 12" circulars can be used in place of DPNs for sleeves. Wait to purchase these if you don't know what that means!

Learn to Sew: Tool Roll IN PERSON

Learn how to use a sewing machine, and customize your tool roll!

January 12 or February 2, 11 AM - 2 PM, $45

In this class, students will learn all the basic steps to sewing by machine, including how to set up the machine, adjust the settings, change a needle, wind a bobbin, and sew straight lines. Students will sew a tool roll that can be customized to hold anything from knitting needles or clay tools to pens and pencils.

Required Materials:

Your working sewing machine, and any accessories and manual (or rent one of ours)

2 Fat Quarters, or a half yard of quilting cotton (fabric does not need to be prewashed)

A fresh Universal 80/12 machine needle

Learn to Crochet: Granny Squares IN PERSON

January 15, 6-8 PM, $30

January 25, 10 AM- 12 PM, $30

Fun crochet patterns are surging in popularity! Learn how to start a project and form the basic stitches of chain, slip stitch, single, and double crochet. We’ll make a classic Granny Square coaster to give you the skills you need to get started with this quick and engaging craft.

Knit Skills: All of the Lights Cardigan HYBRID CLASS

January 25, Feb 1, 22, March 22, 29, April 12, 19, + 26, 1-3 PM, $240

If you're ready for a next-level knitting project, join us to knit All of the Lights from Joji Locatelli. This long cardigan integrates cables and lace for a spectacular design with intricate details and unique construction. Students should have previous sweater knitting experience, and be comfortable working from a pattern.

DK weight yarn for your size

US 6 (4 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles, at least 24” long

Knit Skills: Brioche Hat HYBRID

January 25 + Feb 1, 3:30-5:30 PM, $60

Brioche knitting creates a squishy, reversible fabric with a distinct pattern - one color dominant on one side the other color dominant on the reverse. In this class we’ll cover the basics of brioche in the round, as well as decreases, using the Harlow Worsted hat pattern by Andrea Mowry. Students should be able to knit, purl, yarn over, and work in the round.

Required Materials:

The pattern for the Harlow Worsted from Andrea Mowry (Printcopy or PDF from the designer or Ravelry)

Two skeins of worsted weight yarn, at least 50g each, in contrasting colors. You can use two solids/tonals or one solid/tonal and one speckled/variegated. Two speckled/variegated is not recommended.

US size 5/3.75 mm, 16” circular needle

US size 6/4 mm, 16” circular needle

US size 6/4 mm set of DPNs or a longer circular for magic loop

1 stitch marker and 1 locking stitch marker

Sewing Skills: Crisscross Apron IN PERSON

January 26, 11 AM - 2 PM, $45

Sew this beginner-friendly, reversible apron, and level up your sewing skills! We'll cover how to trace pattern pieces, and skills like sewing hems, topstitching, and sewing pockets. Students should be comfortable setting up and threading their machine independently.

Intro to Paper Patterns IN PERSON

January 31, 6- 8 PM, $30

Looking to expand your sewing skills, but perplexed by paper patterns? Find your measurements, choose your size and learn what to do when you're between sizes, and decipher all the symbols and markings on your pattern! Bring any pattern you'd like to sew and get started on your next project! This class is perfect preparation for any of our garment sewing classes.

**We will not be sewing in this class. No machine required.**


Work In Progress Knitting Help IN PERSON

January 10, 24, or 31, 1-3 pm, $30

We've all got a Work In Progress that could use some help! Join instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for assistance with your knitting or crochet projects. This is an ongoing group class for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop with a description.
