Learn to Knit: T-shirt Tote Bag HYBRID

June 3, 10 + July 1, 10 am- 12 pm, $90

Turn those old t-shirts into yarn, and learn some new knitting skills along the way! This class is a fun introduction to knitting in the round, basic lace knitting, and has an interesting pinhole cast-on. We will also be creating our own upcycled yarn! Students should be comfortable with the knit and purl stitch, and have some experience reading a pattern.

Instructor: Amie Palmer

Materials:

Upcycled Bag pattern (provided)

US 15/ 10 mm 24" circular needle + DPNs

Crochet hook in a similar size (doesn't need to match exactly)

6 Adult XL T-shirts or equivalent (smaller shirts are fine but you'll need more of them)

Straight tip medium gauge metal tapestry needle

Washable fabric marking pen that is visible on the T-shirts (or use our classroom pens)

Rotary cutter and acrylic ruler (or use our classroom supplies)

June 3, 17, July 1, 15, 29, + August 12, 3:30-5:30 pm, $180

The Mooncrush tank features wide shoulders and deep armholes, with a boxy shape that works as a standalone top or as a layering piece. The intarsia will have you saying “just one more row!” Students should be comfortable knitting, purling, and following a pattern.

Instructor: Rachel Offerdahl

Required Materials:

Pattern for the Mooncrush Tank by Jacqueline Cieslak (paper copy or pdf from the designer)

Fingering or light sport weight yarn in yardage for your size (yarns containing plant fibers are recommended for this pattern. Students can knit the two- or three-color version and the cropped or full length in class.)

Two sets of US size 4 needles, or size to make gauge. (Two sets of needles are recommended so students can knit both the front and back panels in tandem.)
