Sew Your Own: Elodie Wrap Dress
Fridays, March 26, April 2 + 9, 6-9 PM. $135
Class Description: Elodie is a modern take on the classic wrap dress. Romantic and flowy, with multiple skirt and sleeve options, it’s equally appropriate at a park picnic or a special wedding. Choose short sleeves or longer, and pick an above-the-knee, midi or maxi length skirt - they all look fantastic!
In this class, you’ll learn how to make length pattern adjustments on a bodice and skirt, and how to sew french seams, pleats and release pleats, neckline facings and dolman-style sleeves. Geared towards intermediate sewists who have sewn a few garments, everyone will benefit from clear demonstrations and pattern instruction translations!
Intermediate beginners can pick broadcloth, poplin or chambray - and fabric with a clear right side / wrong side will make everything easier! More advanced students can pick fabrics like linen, rayon challis, tencel or silk. A good plan is to consider the dress you make in class to be your “wearable muslin” - we expect it will come out great but it might need a few tweaks to get it to fit perfectly.
For the first class, you’ll need your pattern, paper scissors, clear tape and extra paper for pattern adjustments. We’ll also be learning french seams and staystitching, so please have a 1/8 - 1/4 yard scrap fabric with a clear right side/ wrong side and straight edges to practice on. Homework is pinning & cutting fabric, fusing interfacing and stay-stitching the bodice pieces. In the second class, we’ll be constructing the entire bodice. Homework will be sewing the skirt pieces together. The third class will detail the waistband and tie assembly. Homework will be hemming!
Equipment Needed: sewing machine with straight stitch and zig-zag options, iron, ironing board.
Supply List
Elodie Wrap Dress paper pattern (sizes 0 - 20) or pre-printed and assembled PDF pattern (sizes 14 - 30)

Sunday, March 28, 1-4 PM $45
Are you a beginning sewer who has no idea what all the knobs and dials on your machine do? Or are you coming back to sewing after a long break? Or maybe you have figured some things out, but are not completely satisfied with your machine skills. This class will show you the ins and outs of your home sewing machine and get you sewing like a pro!
We’ll go over terminology, setting up the machine, switching stitches and troubleshooting. I’ll talk about your basic sewing kit - tools that make your job easier! And lastly, I’ll show you some techniques that will make your beginner projects a success. You do not need to have a machine to sign up - if you are thinking about getting one we’ll make some recommendations.
*Please note: due to the online nature of this class, we’ll be going over modern machines only. We look forward to future in-person classes where vintage machines will be welcome as well. If you have questions about your machine’s suitability, please call the shop or email!
