March 2025 Classes

Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for virtual and hybrid classes.

Please keep vaccinations up-to-date for in-person attendance. At this time, masks are optional inside the classroom; please be mindful of our shared space. Hybrid and virtual classes include a class recording.


Learn to Crochet: Tiny Basket! HYBRID CLASS

March 8, 10 AM- 12 PM, $30

Get started with the basics of crochet with a cute little basket! This beginner project will teach you to form a chain and single crochet stitch with increases. No experience necessary.

Knit Skills: Wood Block Mitts HYBRID CLASS

March 8, 22, 29, + April 5, 3:30-5:30 pm, $120

If you're looking for a fun and engaging small project, the Wood Block Mitts have a unique modular construction that covers a wide range of useful skills! You'll get plenty of practice picking up stitches, reading your knitting, and weaving in ends as you go. No grafting or seaming required! Students should have experience following a pattern and working with smaller size needles.

Sew the Magic Pants IN PERSON

March 15 + 16, 12-5 pm, $150:

Make Magic in a weekend! The Magic Pants are uniquely designed trousers with polished style and hidden comfort. We'll learn basic pants construction as well as installing the concealed elastic waistband, pocket bags, and strap hardware. Students should have some experience sewing from a pattern. Students should cut their fabric in advance of the class.

Instructor: Ann Tilley

Materials:

Pattern for the Magic Pants from Ann Tilley (expanded size range available from 34-66" hip measurement)

2.5-3 yds of light to midweight woven fabric

1/2 yd lightweight fabric such as quilting cotton for pocket bags OR use main fabric

1/4 yd midweight interfacing such as SF101

Coordinating thread

Sewing Machine (or rent a classroom machine)

Basic Sewing Kit (scissors, pins, marking tools) or use classroom supplies

-Pre-wash + cut-out fabric for pants and pocket pieces (you can wait to cut out the little facing + strap pieces)

-If you have sizing questions, go by your hip measurement as other areas have adjustable fit.

-All notions will be provided (ribbing, D-rings, elastic, twill tape, snaps) but students are welcome to bring additional or alternative options.


Knit Skills: The Scourie Hat HYBRID CLASS

March 22 + April 12, 10 am- 12 PM, $60

This gorgeous hat from Woolly Wormhead features an unusual sideways construction and is a quick project packed with great new techniques that you'll see in many future patterns. This class will cover a provisional cast-on, German short-rows, reading knitting charts, and grafting. Students should be comfortable following knitting patterns with knits, purls, increases and decreases.

Sewing Sessions IN PERSON CLASS

March 30, 12-2 pm, $30

Ready to build your skills, try something new, or get out of the house & chat with other sewing folk? Join instructor Erin West for support & guidance in this 2-hour group sewing workshop. Bring a project, ask questions and brainstorm new ideas. Must be comfortable setting up a machine & working independently. Use of our classroom equipment included (machine, iron, scissors, etc) or BYO favorite tools.

Include your project info so the instructor can prepare to best help you.


Learn to Sew: Tool Roll IN PERSON

March 23, 11 AM - 2 PM, $45

Learn how to use a sewing machine, and customize your tool roll!

In this class, students will learn all the basic steps to sewing by machine, including how to set up the machine, adjust the settings, change a needle, wind a bobbin, and sew straight lines. Students will sew a tool roll that can be customized to hold anything from knitting needles or clay tools to pens and pencils.

Required Materials:

Your working sewing machine, and any accessories and manual (or rent one of ours)

2 Fat Quarters, or a half yard of quilting cotton (fabric does not need to be prewashed)

A fresh Universal 80/12 machine needle

Work In Progress Help IN PERSON

March 28, 1-3 pm, $30

We've all got a Work In Progress that could use some help! Join instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for assistance with your knitting or crochet projects. This is an ongoing group class for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop with a description.
