November 2023 Classes
Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for virtual and hybrid classes.
Vaccination required for in-person attendance. At this time, masks are optional inside the classroom; please be mindful of our shared space. Hybrid and virtual classes include a class recording.
Sew Your Own: Magic Pants IN PERSON
November 4 + 5, 11-4 pm, $150
Make Magic in a weekend! The Magic Pants are uniquely designed trousers with polished style and hidden comfort. We'll learn basic pants construction as well as installing the concealed elastic waistband, pocket bags, and strap hardware. Students should have some experience sewing from a pattern. Students should cut their fabric in advance of the class.

Materials:
Pattern for the Magic Pants from Ann Tilley
2.5 yds of light to midweight woven fabric
1/2 yd lightweight fabric such as quilting cotton for pocket lining
1/4 yd midweight interfacing
Coordinating thread
Sewing Machine (or rent a classroom machine)
Basic Sewing Kit (scissors, pins, marking tools) or use classroom supplies
-Pre-wash + cut-out fabric for pants and pocket pieces (if you want to wait to cut out the little facing + strap pieces you can)
-If you have sizing questions, stop by the shop to try on samples in the full size range in advance of class, or go by your hip measurement.
-Bring your leftover pants fabric
-Bring your pattern (so if you make adjustments you can make notes on the pieces)
Sewing Machine (or rent a classroom machine)
All notions will be provided (ribbing, D-rings, elastic, twill tape, snaps) but students are welcome to bring additional or alternative options.
Crochet Skills: Bartlett Dishcloth + Pomegranate Dishcloth HYBRID

Choose either or both classes to build your skills! Both projects are variations of the same skills and can be made as either a towel or a washcloth based on preference.
Bartlett:
Build your crochet skills and learn new techniques in this class. We'll cover reading crochet charts, counting stitches, and foundation chains. This pattern will involve working into a foundation chain and maintaining stitch count in a sequential pattern. Students should have experience working single and double crochet. Pattern for the Bartlett dishcloth or towel from Daisy & Clover Designs is provided.

Pomegranate:
Build your crochet skills and learn new techniques in this class. We'll cover reading crochet charts, counting stitches, and extended foundation chains. This pattern will involve maintaining stitch count while skipping and working stitches out of order. Students should have experience working single and double crochet. Pattern for the Pomegranate dishcloth or towel from Daisy & Clover Designs is provided.

Sewing with Knits: Sweashirt IN PERSON
November 12 + 19, 11-2 pm, $90
Learn to work with knit fabrics while sewing a classic sweatshirt with raglan sleeves. We'll learn to sew with knits and apply bands and cuffs. Students should be comfortable independently setting up and sewing by machine, and have experience sewing garments from a pattern. Choose from the Linden, Toaster, or Cosmos sweatshirts.

We have all basic sewing supplies in the classroom, but you may want to bring your own sewing kit (scissors, pins, seam ripper, marking tools) for convenience.
Knit Skills: Cable Mittens HYBRID
November 18, December 2 + 9, 3:30-5:30 pm, $90
The Bon Bon Mittens are a great introduction to cables, sized for the whole family! We'll learn how to knit cables using a cable needle (and maybe without one!) and small circumference knitting on DPNs (Double Point Needles) or Magic Loop. Students should be comfortable knitting in the round.

Work In Progress Knitting Help IN PERSON
November 10 + 17, 1-3 pm, $30
We've all got a knitting Work In Progress that could use some help! Join knitting instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for guidance and support. This is an ongoing series for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about the class format, or whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop. If the instructor is not familiar with your project, please let us know the name of the pattern and the issue you are having in advance of the class.
