OCTOBER 2023 Classes

Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for virtual and hybrid classes.

Vaccination required for in-person attendance. At this time, masks are optional inside the classroom; please be mindful of our shared space. Hybrid and virtual classes include a class recording.


Knitting in the Round: Jeweled Beanie HYBRID

October 7, 14, + 28, 1-3 pm, $90

You know how to knit and purl, so let's move from flat squares to knitting in the round. Knit your first hat and learn skills for all sorts of future projects. We will cover knitting in the round, decreasing, reading charts, and finishing techniques. Students should be able to cast-on, knit, and purl.

Knit Skills: Colorwork Cowl HYBRID

October 7, 14, + 28, 3:30-5:30 pm, $90

Beautiful colorwork, and fun new skills!

The Moonwake Cowl is a moebius colorwork cowl that uses lots of cool knitting techniques! In addition to stranded colorwork in the round, this project will teach a provisional cast-on and kitchener stitch for grafting. Students should be comfortable knitting in the round.

Moonwake Cowl by Andrea Mowry (Paper or PDF pattern)

4 colors of DK or Worsted weight yarn (50 g each);

US 7/4.5 mm 16" Circular Needle (x2);

Crochet Hook (E,F, or G);

Sew Your Own: Remy Raglan IN PERSON

October 22 + 29, 11-2 pm, $90

The Remy Raglan is a woven t-shirt with a relaxed fit that's a great introduction to sewing garments. We'll choose our size, cut our fabric, and sew and finish our seams, including bias binding. Students should be comfortable independently setting up and sewing by machine.

Prewashed fabric yardage for your measurements (lightweight cotton, linen)

Fresh machine needle (80/12 or 70/10)

We have all basic sewing supplies in the classroom, but you may want to bring your own sewing kit (scissors, pins, seam ripper, marking tools) for convenience.


Sewing Sessions with Erin

October 27, 5-7 pm, $30

Ready to build your skills, try something new, or get out of the house & chat with other sewing folk? Join instructor Erin West for support & guidance in this 2-hour group sewing workshop. Bring a project, ask questions and brainstorm new ideas. Must be comfortable setting up a machine & working independently. Use of our classroom equipment included (machine, iron, scissors, etc) or BYO favorite tools.

Include your project info so the instructor can prepare to best help you.


 

Work In Progress Knitting Help IN PERSON

October 6 + 13, 1-3 pm, $30

We've all got a knitting Work In Progress that could use some help! Join knitting instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for guidance and support. This is an ongoing series for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about the class format, or whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop. If the instructor is not familiar with your project, please let us know the name of the pattern and the issue you are having in advance of the class.
